Manpower is seeking to recruit a Junior Sous Chef to join our client team. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene. This role is ideal for someone eager to take the next step in their culinary career and develop their leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Supervise and guide junior kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling and preparation techniques.
  • Contribute to menu planning and development, introducing new ideas and recipes.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards, following established recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure that stock is used efficiently.
  • Monitor food costs and assist in controlling waste.
  • Ensure that kitchen staff are trained and motivated to deliver high-quality food.
  • Step in for the Sous Chef or Head Chef during their absence to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements :
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong culinary skills with a good understanding of various cooking techniques.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for creating high-quality dishes.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Culinary certification or formal culinary training.
  • Experience in a fine dining or high-volume kitchen.
  • Familiarity with stock management and cost control.
JOB INFO:
  • Type of Contract: Indefinite direct with our client.
  • Salary : Depending on experience
  • Working Hours : Monday to Sunday with 2 days off and shifting as follows:
    • 1st Shift 7:00 - 16:00
    • 2nd Shift 16:00 - 22:00
  • Job Location : Valletta and Saint Julian
  • Candidate location : Must be already living in Malta
